Product description

Bapaya Motamboli means "the foreign travelers" in Lingala. Three figures setting out together, each draped in hand-dyed fabric, each carrying their own story toward whatever comes next. A piece that honors departure, movement, and the quiet courage of those who keep walking. Handcrafted in Burkina Faso using the ancestral lost-wax casting technique. The mold is broken after casting, the patina applied entirely by hand. These sculptures are one of a kind and will never be replicated.

Materials & Care

This object is made from bronze.

For advice on how to best care for our collections you can find our guide here.

Three Suitcases, Three Lives

Three suitcases, three lives folded inside. Sculpted by hand in the workshops of Burkina Faso, these travelers stand at the threshold of departure, holding everything that matters and nothing that does not. A reminder that the weight of a journey is not measured in distance, but in what we choose to bring with us.

From Workshop to Home

Made by artisans in Burkina Faso using the traditional lost-wax casting method, each sculpture is cast in real bronze. The mold is broken after casting, which makes every piece truly one-of-one.

The patina is then applied by hand, creating subtle variations in tone, texture, and highlights proof of authentic craftsmanship, not mass production.
