African Woman Carrying a Basket on Her Head
The story

Balance is a form of grace

Carrying a basket on the head is one of the oldest gestures of the African continent. It takes strength, posture and a perfect sense of balance, learned young and carried for a lifetime. Dressed in white against a golden light, she makes it look effortless.

That is the energy she brings into a room: poise under weight, calm in motion. A piece for the woman who carries a lot and still walks tall, and for every home that celebrates her.

Every UMOJA painting starts with a story worth telling.
